Historical evolution

In April 1952, the central government decided to open an aviation school in Shenyang, making it one of the six aviation schools in Beijing, Nanjing, Xi'an and Shenyang. In the same year, the name of the school was determined as "Shenyang aviation industry school".

In September 1953, Shenyang aviation industry school was renamed the northeast first industrial school, which is subordinate to the second Ministry of mechanical industry of the Central People's government.

In January 1955, the northeast first industrial school was renamed Shenyang first industrial school.

In January 1956, Shenyang aviation industry school resumed its first place.

In December 1958, Shenyang Institute of aeronautical technology was upgraded to Shenyang Institute of Aeronautical Technology, under the first Ministry of mechanical industry of the Central People's government.

In 1959, Shenyang Institute of aeronautical technology was transformed into Shenyang Institute of Aeronautical Technology.

In February 1960, Shenyang aviation industry school was upgraded to Shenyang aviation industry college.

In March 1969, Shenyang aviation industry school was abolished and renamed the state-owned 251st factory.

In September 1972, Shenyang aviation industry school resumed.

In 1978, Shenyang Institute of aeronautical technology was upgraded to Shenyang Institute of Aeronautical Technology.

In 1999, the school was under the management of Liaoning Province.

In 2007, the University passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation of the Ministry of education with "excellent" results.

In March 2010, Shenyang Institute of aeronautical technology changed its name to Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In October, the University was approved as a pilot University of "excellent engineer training plan" by the Ministry of education.

In 2013, CAAC established Shenyang Branch relying on Shenyang airlines. In August, the Northeast Regional Administration of civil aviation of China approved the trial operation of "flight dispatcher training center of Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics", and the school became one of the four universities in China with the qualification of "800 hour flight dispatcher training".

In May 2017, the University was approved and added as a doctoral degree awarding unit. In August, the University was selected as a new postgraduate Free University in 2017. In November, China aero engine group cooperated with Shenyang University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to establish aero engine college.
