After graduating from the military, I served in the army for two years. During this period, my interest in films shifted from animation to feature films, involving many films of different styles, such as Italian New Realism and French new wave. After leaving the army, I entered the art and Engineering Department of Taiwan Art College in 1965.

The reason why he didn't choose the film department was that although he loved film, he chose art and engineering, which he knew well and would be helpful to film making in the future, because he lacked confidence in film education at that time. When he was in school, he went beyond the stage of pure appreciation of watching movies. When he met a good movie, he would watch several scenes in succession, and take notes of some of the clips, or even simulate shooting, so as to lay the foundation for his future shooting, whether it is an experimental film, a documentary or even a feature film.

After graduation in 1968, he joined an advertising company as an art designer. In 1973, we set up the Sinian film and television company. Our main business is to make advertising films and documentaries. Our hobby is to make experimental films. At that time, he also helped Guohe communication company to produce a number of "fragrant island" series documentaries broadcasted on CCTV, such as "Lantern Festival", "racing pigeon", "hero under the fangs", "poisonous snake and snake venom", "when the mullet comes" and "butterfly of Taiwan", which all won a lot of praise.
