Gao Heng is a senior engineer of Yunnan Observatory of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has been engaged in Infrared Astronomy Research for a long time. He has published many scientific papers in international and domestic academic journals. His scientific research achievements have won the second prize of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the first prize of excellent scientific research papers of Yunnan Province.

At the same time, he devoted himself to the cause of science popularization. Since 1996, more than 80 popular science articles have been published in popular science journals and newspapers inside and outside Yunnan Province. Standing at the forefront of science, a popular science work for teenagers written by him and published in 2004, won the 2004 Bingxin children's literature award. At present, he is the editorial board member and columnist of two popular science journals and three newspapers.

Science Popularization

Making popular science programs in radio and TV stations is another of his regular popular science work. During the observation of comet "comet wood" collision, comet Baiwu and comet Hale BOPP, as well as special topics such as "leap August", "disaster in 1999" and "Leonid meteor shower", he once served as a special host of popular science programs. Especially when the Mohe total solar eclipse was broadcast live all over the country, he was hired as the host of Kunming live broadcast by CCTV. In 1999, he wrote a 10 episode TV series "watching stars with Mr. Gao" for the children's column "fat sun" of Kunming TV station. In 2001, he made a series of 20 episodes of science popularization program "Mr. Gao talks about science" for the "golden childhood" column of Yunnan People's radio satellite channel, and won the third prize of the whole country. From 2003 to now, he has been the scientific consultant of the "culture and science" column of the satellite channel of Yunnan People's radio, and he has been broadcasting the weekly popular science program - "gaoheng topic" for nearly two years. as the most important member of the expert report group of Yunnan Association for science and technology, he has made nearly 800 popular science reports for cadres, teachers, students and the masses at all levels in the past 10 years, with a direct audience of more than 230000. At present, he has visited 16 prefectures, prefectures and cities in Yunnan Province, and more than half of them have been there twice. From 1998 to October 2004 alone, 382 science popularization reports were made, with an audience of more than 157800. Gao Heng is a member of the China Association of science popularization writers and a member of the science popularization expert group of Yunnan Province and Kunming city. At the first science popularization conference of Yunnan Province in 1996, he was awarded advanced science popularization worker of Yunnan Province by the provincial government and was designated to make a typical speech at the conference. In 1997, he was rated as the outstanding youth science and technology instructor of Yunnan Province, in 1998 he was elected as the National Outstanding Youth Science and technology instructor, in 1998 he was rated as the advanced worker of science popularization by Chinese Astronomical Society, in 2001 he was rated as the advanced worker of National Association for Science and technology, and in 2002 he was rated as the advanced worker of Yunnan Association for science and technology.
