On the morning of November 21, 2000, thousands of people in the capital rushed to Babaoshan funeral home from all directions to bid farewell to the "civilian artist" who created many artistic images.

There are two couplets in a pair of white elegiac couplets hanging outside the funeral home: "fifty years of artistic performance, and seventy years of people's character and art are well-known" and "high art often leaves people praising virtue to be a teacher for future generations". This is not only a high summary of Li Wanfen's noble quality for art, but also the common aspiration of hundreds of millions of viewers.
