Zhu Shilin

Zhu Shilin

(July 27, 1899 - January 5, 1967) Chinese film director, artist and screenwriter. He is from Taicang, Jiangsu Province. Studied in Shanghai technical school. He has worked as a bank trainee, a railway bureau employee and a part-time compiler in Beijing Zhenguang cinema.

Personal profile

In 1923, Zhu Shilin joined the North China Film Company as director of the translation department, and wrote the scripts of suicide contract, old capital spring dream, love and obligation. "Spring dream of the old capital" was a big hit when it was released, which made Zhu Shilin famous in the film industry and opened the way for him to join the film industry.

In 1932, Zhu Shilin went to Shanghai to join Lianhua film company and formally joined the film industry. "Ci Mu Qu" is the most important film edited and directed by Zhu Shilin in this period. It can be said that this is the first Chinese film about the problem of the elderly. Half a century later, it still has great appeal and practical significance. The film pays attention to the use of lens, which lays a good foundation for the successful characterization and atmosphere rendering. At that time, Zhu Shilin always liked to go on exploring with limited funds. He is strict in his work. He never makes anything crude. He tries to express the content in the best movie language.

Personal experience

During the Anti Japanese War, Zhu Shilin made many films about Anti Japanese and national salvation, which played a positive role in the victory of the war. When Zhu Shilin went to Hong Kong in 1946, the film industry in Hong Kong was desolate. Zhu Shilin became one of the first pioneers. In the first two years, Zhu Shilin made films such as "no pity for the same disease" and "where is the jade man". These films were skillful in techniques and also touched some social problems, but they were not paid attention to.

In 1948, Zhu Shilin made a large-scale historical palace boudoir film, the secret history of Qing Palace (1948), which caused a sensation. The next year, he directed born and die. This film is surreal in conception, but delicate and real in detail description. It is a unique film.

The 1950s was the peak period of Zhu Shilin's creation, and he created many excellent films such as "a board apart". Zhu Shilin is good at exploring the beauty of human nature in the ordinary people and ordinary life. He is more good at using delicate and fluent, implicit and humorous techniques to write the tangled disputes between people.

Zhu Shilin has been a filmmaker for more than 40 years. He has directed more than 100 films, many of which have become classics. Most movies have influence and continue to influence many young people who love movies.
