In 1989, Li Wanhua fell in love with Wu Zhenyu, an actor in the same drama, for shooting the situational comedy public private sandwich. After eight years of love, they fell in love with each other. Later, she fell in love with he Jiajin from 1998 to 2001. In the middle of 2001, she went out with Li Shouzheng, a Canadian stockbroker, and got married secretly in Canada in June 2003.
She has now emigrated to Vancouver, Canada, and retired from the entertainment industry in Hong Kong. She is a member of the new era media group and hosts the program for Chinese Canadian radio AM1470.
In September 2009, she took maternity leave due to her pregnancy and suspended TV or radio work in Vancouver. In October 2009, Li Wanhua gave birth to a pair of twin boys. Together with her eldest daughter, Li Wanhua now has three children. Until July 2010, she came back to host AM1470.
