Yan Zhiwen is a native of Xinyu, Pingtung, Taiwan. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of National Normal University and Berkeley College of modern music in the United States. He is a music critic of newspapers and music journals, a consultant of rising record production, a teacher of Taipei Jiegou art college, and a guitarist and head of the "big dog" orchestra.

His works include the composition and arrangement of Jin Sumei's "betrayal of amorous feelings" album, Wen Jinlong's "two string rock" album, Gao Peihua's "long time to think of your name" album, Zhang Dachun's "secrets of youth's escape", and the music of the movie "good men and good women"
