Xihai Wetland Park

Xihai Wetland Park is located in the core area of the capital of Beijing

. There are Huitong temple, Sanguan temple, Jingye temple, Puji temple, Deshengmen archery tower and other historical sites around.

Xihai Wetland Park covers an area of 10.9 hectares, including 7.4 hectares of water area and 3.5 hectares of surrounding green space. It will be officially opened to the outside world on October 1, 2018.

Development history

Xicheng District of Beijing proposed that 10.9 hectares of water surface and green space should be reconstructed to break through the blocking points of the footpath around the lake and vacate the roads and water areas in front of the gate occupied by catering enterprises along the lake one by one. The 1450 meter long footpath around the lake should be fully connected.

The purpose of these measures is to restore the wetland landscape in the history of Xihai and the rich species diversity in the region, build the urban wetland ecosystem, promote the restoration of water ecology and the improvement of water environment. At the same time, combined with wetland science education and tourism leisure, we can create a Wetland Park with both natural and cultural characteristics, and reproduce the picturesque landscape described by Lao She.

Main attractions

In order to restore the wetland landscape of the park, more than 30 biological species have been put into the water, nearly 20000 square meters of aquatic plants have been planted, and more than 700 trees and shrubs such as weeping willow, hickory and Pinus tabulaeformis have been planted beside the water. In order to facilitate the public to visit, dozens of groups of seats have been set up around the lake, and smart light poles have been built to enhance the lighting.

In addition, since May 2018, Xicheng District has opened up the blocking points around the lake, with a total area of more than 4800 square meters.
