Jilin Museum, located at No.100 Jilin Street, Jilin City, Jilin Province, is a local comprehensive museum in China. Jilin museum was established in 1962. In 1978, Jilin Museum and Jilin exhibition hall merged.

As of May 2020, Jilin Museum has 8 permanent exhibition halls, with an exhibition area of 3465 square meters, a building area of 35700 square meters and an exhibition area of 18600 square meters. As of May 2020, Jilin Museum has 18836 cultural relics, most of which are archaeological and meteorite specimens.

Jilin museum is a national second-class Museum and a national 4A scenic spot.

 

Historical evolution

On December 25, 1962, Jilin museum was established.

In 1978, Jilin City Museum and Jilin City Exhibition Hall merged and used the building of Jilin City Exhibition Hall.

In 1990, Jilin Museum and JILIN METEORITE Museum worked together.

In 1996, Jilin City Museum was rebuilt in the original site.

In 1998, the new Jilin museum was built and put into use.

On October 22, 2009, the ship of the century was put under the management of Jilin Museum.

As of May 2020, Jilin Museum has 18836 cultural relics, most of which are archaeological and meteorite specimens. Archaeological objects include Neolithic age, bronze age and iron age relics, mainly including Tuanshan culture, Fuyu culture, sumo culture and Bohai culture in the West.

In October 2019, Jilin museum will hold a large-scale theme exhibition of "me and my motherland" -- Jilin endeavor 70 years.

 

In December 2019, Jilin museum will hold the exhibition of calligraphy and painting of Tongcheng cultural celebrities in Qing Dynasty.

 

In January 2020, Jilin City Museum will hold a popular science exhibition of the rat culture in the year of gengzi.
