Qu Yuan is a great patriotic poet in China. In Zigui County of Hubei Province, lepingli, Qu Yuan's birthplace, is the center, and the surrounding areas extend to Guizhou, Zhouping, shazhenxi, Xietan and other towns. There are many moving stories and beautiful legends about Qu Yuan. Jingzhou Ji by Yu Zhongyong of Jin dynasty recorded: "there are Quyuan house and Wuxu temple in Zigui County, but the stone of Daoyi still exists." It can be seen that the legend of Qu Yuan was quite popular before Jin Dynasty.
Qu Yuan's legends are rich in themes, including legends of characters, place names, scenery and customs. At present, 91 legends about Qu Yuan have been collected, which are full of emotion, thrilling, magical and romantic, rich in imagination and profound in connotation.
The legend of Qu Yuan can be used for reference in artistic creation, and it is also helpful to the study of cultural anthropology, folklore, psychology and aesthetics. The national, local and family feelings highlighted in the legend also promote the construction of a harmonious society.
