Brief introduction to Jingxing Lahua

Jingxing County, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province is located in the eastern foot of Taihang Mountain, the western border of Hebei Province, 40 kilometers east of the provincial capital.

Produced and spread in Jingxing County, it is a local unique folk art form. Originated in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, has a long history. Jingxing flower originated from folk festivals, temple fairs, celebrations and Street Square Flower Fairs when worshiping gods. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Jingxing Lahua has been well-known throughout the country and abroad after many times of excavation, arrangement and development.

There are many schools of Lahua in Jingxing, and there are many legends about the appellation of "Lahua". It is said that Lahua is a dance formed in the process of transporting peonies, so it is called "Lahua"; it is also said that "Lahua" is a dance formed in the process of escaping from famine, "Lahua" is the homonym of "Lahuang"; it is also said that the heroine in the dance is named "Lahua".

Traditional Jingxing Lahua has its distinctive artistic features, with "twisting shoulder", "turning wrist", "twisting arm", "sucking leg" and "throwing foot" as the main dance vocabulary, forming a unique artistic style of combining hardness and softness, rough and implicit. It is good at expressing the emotions of solemn and stirring, sad, sentimental and joyful, and the number of performers varies. For example, umbrella symbolizes good weather; burden symbolizes plenty of food and clothing; Taiping board symbolizes peace of the four seasons; overlord whip symbolizes culture and martial arts; vase symbolizes peace and happiness, and so on. The main contents of traditional Jingxing brocade are "six contract spring", "selling wool", "looking forward to the fifth shift" and "going down to Guandong".

The music of Lahua in Jingxing is an independent kind of music, which has the charm of Hebei blowing songs, the color of temple music and court music. It is hard but not wild, soft but not sweeping, gorgeous but not floating, sad but not crying. It complements the deep, implicit, vigorous and heroic style of Lahua dance, and integrates music and dance. The traditional La Hua music is mostly Gong and Zheng modes, followed by Shang and Yu modes. The rhythm is slow, mostly 4 / 4 beats. The characteristic accompaniment instruments are Zhanggong and so on.

In recent years, the old artists of various schools of flower drawing in Jingxing have died one after another. A large number of flower drawing skills can not be really taught, which makes flower drawing on the verge of crisis.
