Pai Gong is a kind of folk music with mixed brands. It has a long history and spreads all over the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In the 1980s, a 1916 brand gongchi manual (manuscript) was found among the folk in Ezhou, including 225 Qupai (including variants) and more than 40 "ideas" of Gongjing.
Chen Huaiqing, the grandfather of Chen Xinfeng, the collector of manuscripts, was also a famous trombone player (Sanjie number) in the former Qing Dynasty. Therefore, Ezhou brand Gong has formed a scale in the middle and late Qing Dynasty and has a history of more than 100 years.
There are many kinds of brand Gong repertoire, which are widely used in folk activities such as weddings and funerals, God greeting contests, birthday celebrations and traditional festivals.
