Introduction to Mongolian folk songs (Wulat folk songs)
Declaration area or unit: wulateqian banner, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Wulat Mongolian folk songs are mainly popular in four areas: the pastoral areas of Wulat Qianqi, Zhongqi and Houqi and the Mongolian residential areas in the west of Baotou. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, a large number of people from neighboring Ordos swarmed into the middle and back banners of Wulat, and the content, singing style, melody and other singing styles of folk songs changed accordingly. The pastoral area of Wulat Front Banner still retains the unique charm of the original ecological folk songs of ancient Wulat.
Wulat folk songs can be divided into long and short tunes. Long tune folk songs (poems) are highly respected in banquet occasions, such as weddings, birthdays, festivals and so on. There are very strict rules on when to sing and what songs to sing at the banquet. The first song "Sanfu" has a long tune, five groups of samsara, and one group of three songs. Each song is followed by a "lining song" to continue the integrity of the whole song, and the last song "alateng Hanggai" 》Poetry is also the most representative feature of the original Wulat folk songs.
With the development of society, folk banquet occasions are fully accepted by the Han nationality, and they are used to urban banquet. Many folk songs have been abandoned. The number of singers of the old generation is decreasing year by year, while the younger generation can sing very little. Wulat folk songs are in an endangered state.
