Southwest Shandong drum music, also known as "blowing instrument" and "blowing wow", is a folk music form with suona as the main instrument. The commonly used accompaniment instruments include Sheng, flute, Bangzi, drum, cymbal, etc. the band generally has 6-10 people. Besides the traditional suona tunes and solos, some local operas can also be played in the form of "Kaxi". Because of its sonorous, sweet voice, rich musical expression and strong local characteristics, it is deeply loved by the masses.
Southwest Shandong percussion music consists of wind instruments and percussion instruments. Now it is mainly played by suona, supplemented by Sheng, dizi and Bangzi. The commonly used playing techniques include overtone, finger flower sound, beat sound, pad sound, air arch sound, air top sound, flower sound, glide sound, etc.
Southwest Shandong drum music is simple and straightforward, bold and vigorous, thick and straight, but it does not lose its softness and lyricism, has a strong local flavor, and has high artistic value, research value and practical value.
In recent years, with the death of the old artists, the Southwest Shandong percussion music is facing the risk of loss, so it is urgent to protect the Southwest Shandong percussion music.
