Buyi people mainly live in Guizhou Province. Chabai Song Festival is held in chabai village, Dingxiao Town, Guizhou Province on June 21 of the lunar calendar every year. It originated from the Buyi oral Folktale "chalang and Bai Mei". It is said that in ancient times, Zha Lang of Zha Baichang (formerly known as huchangba) saved Bai Mei's life, and they became affectionate partners. In order to rob Bai Mei, the head of Baiyan village, wild bobcat, killed Cha Lang. Bai Mei set fire to the wild bobcat and died in the sea of fire. Together with Cha Lang, Bai Mei became a white crane, flying to the sky and becoming a Ziyun singer. In order to commemorate the faithful couple, the surnames of Zha Lang and Bai Mei were linked together. Huchangba was renamed "Zha Baichang" and June 21 was designated as "Zha Baige Festival".

During the chabai Song Festival, men, women and children gather in the chabai hall to eat dog meat soup pot, five color glutinous rice and unjust Tuo together. They mourn chalang and Bai Mei under the chabai tree, go to chabai well to get water to clean their hearts, and go to chabai temple to offer incense. On this day, the villagers surnamed Cha will invite Princess Mogong Duan to hold a sacrificial ceremony. The middle-aged and old people will sing and sacrifice chabai with Buyi ancient songs under the chabai tree, so as to inherit the story of chabai. Buyi young men and women wear festival costumes to make friends in chabai bridge, chabai River, Songlinpo, chabai cave, chabai well and other scenic spots. At night, the families of farmers are full of relatives and friends, drinking and singing all night. On the 22nd, the young men and women gave each other their keepsakes and left reluctantly.

Chabage Festival is not only a commemorative Festival, but also a unique opportunity for Buyi youth to talk about love and propose for marriage.
