The Dragon Boat Festival (the custom of crossing between Fujian and Taiwan during the stone lion dragon boat festival) is introduced
Applicant: Shishi City, Fujian Province
The custom of crossing Fujian and Taiwan on the stone lion dragon boat festival is a water dragon boat festival held by people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait in the Hanjiang River, Shishi City, Fujian Province.
Located in the north of Shishi City, Fujian Province, Hanjiang River was an important port in the southeast coast during the song and Yuan Dynasties. In Qing Dynasty, Hanjiang was a trade center port between inland and Taiwan Island. In 1806, the newly built stele of Haiphong official office on the Hanjiang River, which was set up in the 11th year of Jiaqing and has been well preserved, recorded that "the Hanjiang River is the general entrance of Quanzhou, crossing with Luzi port in Taiwan", so the folk used to call this stele "Dudu stele". In Taiwan's "records of Fengtian palace in Lukang", it is also recorded that in 1784, the Han River crossed with Lukang.
On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, tens of thousands of people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait hold the ceremony of "releasing the king's boat" in the Hanjiang River. Meanwhile, traditional folk activities such as lotus picking, water splashing on the sea, dragon boat race and duck catching are displayed. On the same day, Lukang, Taiwan, held a ceremony of "delivering spring grain", which corresponded to the activity of "releasing the king's boat" in Hanjiang.
This custom is a historical reappearance of the crossing between the mainland and Taiwan in Qing Dynasty, and plays an important role in the cultural exchanges between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.
