Ma Yinglong's traditional pharmaceutical technology originated in Dingzhou, Hebei Province during the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. It has a history of more than 400 years after 14 generations of inheritance.

At the beginning, the founder Ma Jintang devoted himself to research, groping and summing up a set of unique pharmaceutical techniques to make eye medicine. After the development of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, when the people's Republic of China was founded, Ma Huimin, the 13th generation descendant of Ma Yinglong, was the director of Ma Yinglong pharmaceutical factory (later renamed as "Wuhan No.3 pharmaceutical factory"). On the basis of the ancient prescription, he followed the traditional pharmaceutical techniques to produce eye medicine, hemorrhoids medicine and other drugs. In 1995, Wuhan No.3 pharmaceutical factory changed its name to "Mayinglong Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd." and Mayinglong's traditional pharmaceutical skills were preserved and carried forward.

Ma Yinglong's pharmaceutical technology has its traditional characteristics and norms. It has a set of strict procedures from material selection, processing, ingredients to patent medicine. The material selection is only true and excellent, and the quality and fake are avoided, and the medicinal materials used are very valuable. In the pharmaceutical process, the hygiene of utensils, the sequence of raw materials, and the fineness and quality of drugs should be strictly controlled. Due to the different climate in spring, summer, autumn and winter, the processing methods of raw materials are different. There are strict requirements for the holding of drugs, and the containers used are of different texture and variety. Ma Yinglong's traditional pharmaceutical techniques are absolutely confidential to the outside world, and are only passed on to the eldest son and grandson in the family, or passed on from generation to generation by selecting the best. He has never violated the law for hundreds of years.

Ma Yinglong's traditional pharmaceutical technology process is complex and delicate, which can be called the representative of traditional Chinese medicine production process in China, with unique historical and cultural value, scientific development value and practical value. Modern production technology brings great challenges to the traditional pharmaceutical process of manual workshop, which leads to the loss of traditional process.
