As early as the Eastern Han Dynasty, calendering, mothproofing and dyeing techniques appeared. The paper processing techniques of sizing and powdering in Wei, Jin, southern and Northern Dynasties and wax, powder wax, clay gold and cold gold in Tang Dynasty were exquisite and meticulous, which laid a foundation for the development of paper processing techniques in song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. In history, the manufacturing technology of chengxintang paper in the Southern Tang Dynasty and Xuande paper in the Ming Dynasty were famous for a time, which had an important impact on the innovation and development of paper processing technology in later generations. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, Xuande paper was gradually replaced by Xuan paper in Jingxian County, Anhui Province, and the paper processing technology reached its peak. From the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, the paper industry and processing technology gradually disappeared. When the people's Republic of China was founded, the paper processing technology handed down in history was on the verge of extinction. After the reform and opening up, duoyingxuan stationery factory in Chaohu City, Anhui Province devoted itself to the research of this ancient art, and restored some famous products lost for centuries, such as hand-painted gold powder wax paper, gold and silver printing paper, red sand paper, sheep brain paper, etc. However, how to protect and inherit the restored paper processing technology is still a big problem.
