Applicant: Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province
Chinese national musical instruments have a long history and are closely related to the cultural life of people of all ethnic groups. They are an important part of Chinese traditional culture. These musical instruments are simple and beautiful in shape, reasonable in structure, exquisite in workmanship and pure in timbre, which are loved by music lovers of all ages. From ancient times to the present, all folk festivals, weddings and funerals, God greeting contests, or important political, military and religious activities held by the court or the government have played national musical instruments. The production technology of national musical instruments has become an important traditional handicraft in China, which has been handed down till now and has far-reaching influence.
There are many kinds of Chinese national musical instruments, which are well-known at home and abroad. Among them, the eldest son's Xiangtong musical instrument, Korean national musical instrument, Suzhou National musical instrument, Caifu American drum and Uygur national musical instrument have their own characteristics.
Cai Fumei drum shop in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province was founded in Qianlong period, and has been handed down for more than 200 years. As early as the middle of the Qing Dynasty, Cai's drum sold well in Fujian, Guangdong and Taiwan. More than 80% of the drums used in temples in Fujian Province were made by Cai Fumei. The drum surface of CAI Fumei drum is made of tough South buffalo leather, which costs a lot and is quite different from other drum products. There are 13 kinds of drums, including Temple drum, lion drum, Dragon Boat drum, drama drum, waist drum, red drum and neap tide drum. In addition to the size of the drum, there are also different levels of sound.
Rescuing and excavating the traditional drum making skills of Zhangzhou represented by Cai Fu's drum making skills, clarifying the inheritance system and production principle of Zhangzhou drum making industry, as well as the historical origin of Zhangzhou drum making industry and Taiwan traditional drum making industry, will play a great role in promoting the further development of Fujian folk crafts and enhancing the cultural identity of both sides of the Strait.
