Founder paper-cut is a kind of Northeast Folk characteristic paper-cut, popular in the area of Founder County, Heilongjiang Province. In the middle of the Qing Dynasty, with the lifting of the ban in Northeast China, a large number of immigrants from the pass poured into Heilongjiang, which brought many achievements of the folk culture of the Central Plains, and the paper-cut skill spread to founder in this period. Through the continuous efforts of local residents, founder paper-cut gradually formed a different regional characteristics from the Central Plains paper-cut. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, especially since the reform and opening up, founder paper-cut has been further developed, with the emergence of paper-cut artists who not only master traditional paper-cut skills but also are good at expressing new life. Founder paper-cut is simple and beautiful, full of artistic charm, paper-cut artists from many schools. In 1993, fangzheng county was named "the hometown of Chinese folk paper cutting art" by the Ministry of culture.
Founder paper-cut combines the advantages of local tradition and foreign art, forming a rough and concise style rich in the characteristics of Northeast Folk Art. It uses self-made paper-cut tools, unique techniques, pays attention to decoration, shows a variety of themes, simple and lovely shape, and beautiful composition, which provides a fresh example for the study of the emergence and development of Northeast Folk Art. At present, the old local type of Founder paper-cut is on the verge of extinction, and the non family inheritance of paper-cut artists have changed their careers or migrated due to life and other reasons. It is urgent to take effective measures to ensure the sustainable inheritance and development of this excellent folk art.
