Huaibei Bangzi, formerly known as "Shahe tune" or "Shahe Bangzi", is popular in Huaibei area of Anhui Province. It is also known as "gaobang" and "Bangzi opera" by local people. It has a history of more than 100 years. In 1960, it was named Huaibei Bangzi and Anhui Huaibei Bangzi drama troupe was established.

Huaibei Bangzi belongs to Bangzi tune system, and has certain blood relationship with Henan Bangzi, Shangdang Bangzi, Puzhou Bangzi and Laiwu Bangzi. When singing, Zaomu Bangzi is used to strike the festival, and the libretto is mostly with interlinked words. The melody absorbs the tones of Zaowang opera, zhuiziwu, Gushu rap, Hawking, labor chant and boatman chant from Huaibei. It is characterized by high pitched and passionate singing, simple and generous. To this kind of singing form, people used to call it "gaobang". Huaibei opera is similar to Henan Opera in plate structure, but there are obvious differences in fine taste, especially the black face and red face singing, which has unique charm, variety and unique style charm in singing.

Most of the plays of Huaibei Bangzi are adapted or transplanted from historical themes. The plot of the big drama is exciting, and the flavor of life of the small drama is rich, which is favored by the audience in Huanghuai area. There are more than 20 Danxing operas, such as duanji, Quanfu, Daji and Chen Miaochang; more than 10 Xiaosheng operas, such as tikou, Yanglong, yangbalang and Baishi; more than 10 ugly operas, such as huazi Shijin, shuangchumo and Xiaotu Fanfang; more than 10 red faced operas, such as kneeling slope, lintongguan, Zhanzi and guowuguan Black face plays include "the case of guilmei", "Wang Mang usurping the throne" and so on. At the same time, he adapted and created a large number of plays, such as Kou Zhun's shoes on his back, Meng Jiangnu, sangyuanhui, Mu Guiying, Chu gonghen, lintongguan, and modern plays two pieces of Huabu, an important lesson, towering trees, etc. In recent years, the new plays and actors created by Huaibei Bangzi have won many awards in major national and provincial artistic activities.
