Shajiabang town
Shajiabang town is a town under the jurisdiction of Changshu City, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province and the south of Changshu City, with an administrative area of 70.24 square kilometers (2017), a permanent population of 57789 (2017), and jurisdiction over 2 communities and 13 administrative villages.
Shajiabang has a profound cultural heritage. There are two ancient towns, Tangshi and Hengjing. Yang Yi, a pioneer of the restoration society, and Mao Jin, a book collector, settled here. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were 40 Jinshi. During the Anti Japanese War, Shajiabang became the center of the Soviet Union Changtai Anti Japanese guerrilla base area, where the New Fourth Army left combat footprints. Shajiabang, a modern Peking opera based on the revolutionary story of Shajiabang, is famous for its popularity in the north and south of the country.
Shajiabang town is a low-lying town with many rivers and reeds. The climate is mild and humid. Its economy is based on fishery and agriculture. After the reform and opening up, a large number of industrial enterprises have developed, forming an industrial system with glass mold, clothing, machinery, electronics, solar photovoltaic and other industries as the main body. In the Tang Dynasty, Shajiabang town is located in Changshu County, which belongs to Shuangfeng township. In the second year of Baoyou in the Southern Song Dynasty (1254), there are Hengjing, Yangao, bize, Jinze, Sanjia village and caodang villages in the west of Shajiabang Town, which belong to moxili, the 43rd capital of Shuangfeng Township in Changshu County, and jinxianli, the 43rd capital of Shuangfeng Township in Changshu County, in the east of Tang city. in the Yuan Dynasty, duxiali was changed to Tu, moxie Li and Jinxian Li were changed to Mo Xie Tu and Jinxian Tu respectively. During the Zhengtong period of Ming Dynasty (1436-1449), it belonged to the 43rd capital of Shuangfeng Township, such as jinxianli, Langcheng, moxieli, etc. Most of the townspeople living on the Bank of Youjing River were Tang surnames. They further developed Youjing and gradually prospered. Therefore, they changed their name to Tang City, which belongs to jinxianli, the 43rd capital of Shuangfeng township. In 1726, Changshu and Zhaowen were divided into two counties, which still belonged to Shuangfeng township of Changshu county. In 1910, local autonomy was carried out. Chang and Zhao counties were divided into four cities and 31 townships. In the east of Shajiabang Town, Dongtang city was set up, covering Shipai and Lishi; in the west, HENGJING township was set up, covering Hengjing and rubang. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Changshu and Zhaowen counties were restored and merged into Changshu county. Changshu county was still established as a city and township. The territory's division remained unchanged. Each city and township set up a board of directors to exercise administrative functions. in August 1929, the township system was implemented below the county level. The township was under the jurisdiction of the district. Dongtang city and Hengjing Township were merged into the third district (Hengtang District). The district office was located in congshantang, Hexi street, Tangshi town. in 1934, the Baojia system was carried out, with one Baojia for every 10 households and one Baojia for every 10 households. The county's 15 districts were reduced to eight districts, and Shajiabang town is now the eighth district (Tang city). In July 1938, the Japanese puppet regime restored the administrative division of Changshu county to that of the 18th year of the Republic of China; in September, the KMT established the Changshu county government in exile, and its activities in the Shazhou area still follow the original division. Today, Shajiabang town belongs to the eighth district under the jurisdiction of Changshu county government in exile. In March of 1939, the Japanese puppet authorities abolished the district system and merged 35 townships into 31 townships. Today, there are Tangshi Township and Hengjing Township in Shajiabang town. In May, the sixth regiment of the New Fourth Army led by Ye Fei marched eastward in the name of Jiangnan people's Anti Japanese Volunteer Army (hereinafter referred to as "Jiang Kang") to resist Japan and arrived at Tangshi and Hengjing. The Japanese puppet regime survived in name, and Shajiabang town is now under the actual control of the Communist Party of China. In June 1940, HENGJING district and Xinmo district were set up at the junction of Changshu, Wuxian and Kunshan counties to establish the Anti Japanese democratic regime in Yangcheng County. In July, the puppet authorities restored the district system, changed the name of the township to the name of the District, and set up towns below the district. In September, the people's Anti Japanese Self Defense Association of Suzhou county was established (as an anti Japanese democratic regime, later reorganized as the county government). At this time, the Anti Japanese base of Suzhou, Changshu and Taicang was formed, and Dongtang city had an office. Soon after, Dongtang city became the residence of Jiangnan special committee of the Communist Party of China, Suzhou Changtai office and Suzhou county government. Suzhou County governs six districts and one town, among which Tangshi town (the model town directly under Suzhou county), Tangshi district (formerly known as tangou District) and HENGJING district are located in Shajiabang town. In January, 1941, the puppet county government changed its division again, and the districts and small towns were the same as those in 1934. Today's Shajiabang town is the eighth district (Tang city). In April, the establishment of Yangcheng County was abolished. In July, the puppet government launched "Qingxiang", and the Anti Japanese democratic regime was seriously damaged. After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in August 1945, the exiled Kuomintang Changshu county government returned to the city to take over the political power, and the whole county restored the division before the Anti Japanese war. Today, Shajiabang town belongs to Dongheng District, which governs Tang City, Hengjing and Baimao. In November, the Communist Party organization was ordered to withdraw from the north, and then reestablished its political power until the founding of new China. In 1946, Shajiabang town was expanded and merged into the first district. In February 1949, Changshu county was divided into six districts. Today, Shajiabang town is located in the urban area of Tang City, and the district office is located in the market town of Tang city. In April, Changshu was liberated, Changshu county was adjusted into six districts, and Shajiabang town is located in the urban area of Tang city. In May 1981, Hengjing people's commune was renamed as Ludang people's commune. On October 9, the Revolutionary Committee of Tang people's commune was abolished and the Management Committee of Tang people's commune was established; the Revolutionary Committee of Ludang people's commune was abolished and the Management Committee of Ludang people's commune was established.
