Xidu Street

In December 2015, Shanghai municipal government agreed to set up Xidu sub district office. Its administrative area is as follows: East to jinhuigang and Beixin village, Wuzhai village and Yimin village boundary of Nanqiao Town, South to Fazhan village, Jingang village and Yimin village boundary, West to nanzhugang and north to Huangpu River. Xidu sub district office is located at 1276-1278 xizha highway. The administrative region of Nanqiao town was adjusted accordingly.

Historical evolution

Xidu is the first rural town (1994), the first town to community (2003) and the first Zhenjie Street (2015) in Fengxian. As the first area to promote rural urbanization in Fengxian, the management system reform of Xidu almost every 10 years deeply reflects the importance of Fengxian in actively integrating into the central city and taking the path of urban-rural co-ordination and integrated development with the characteristics of Metropolitan Suburbs Efforts and recourse. Xiaotang Township and Xidu Township were set up in the Republic of China. In 1957, Xidu township was merged into Xiaotang township. In 1959, Xiaotang commune was established. In 1984, it was changed into Xiaotang township. In 1994, Xiaotang township was withdrawn to build a town and renamed Xidu town. in November 2003, Nanqiao town and Xidu town were abolished and new Nanqiao town was established; in December 19, 2015, Xidu street was established in Nanqiao town.

Xidu Street covers an area of 30.37 square kilometers, of which the land area is 28.77 square kilometers. Xidu is located in the 90 degree L-shaped right angle bend of Huangpu River northward into the central urban area. It has the reputation of "the first bay of Pujiang River" in Shanghai. It has the exit of Hongmei South Road cross river tunnel, the South Extension Station of line 5, Fengpu bridge, Minpu second bridge, Xidu wharf and other main diplomatic facilities for Fengxian. It is the north gate connecting Fengxian with the central urban area, and the second gateway for the central urban area to and from Fengxian One stop.

There are 8 village committees, 10 residential committees, and 125779 permanent residents, including 50779 registered residence population, 40%, and 75000 migrant population, accounting for 60%.

During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the development of Xidu district will usher in a new historical opportunity. Xidu Street will seize the opportunity and, based on the actual situation of Xidu, plan in the "three major strategic patterns" of the overall layout of urban waterfront development, the important bearing area of South Shanghai Science and technology innovation center, and the development of Nanqiao new town, so as to explore new development modes and mechanisms.

On May 13, 2020, it won the honorary title of civilized community of Shanghai from 2018 to 2019.
