Shanghai Songjiang Export Processing Zone

Shanghai Songjiang Export Processing Zone consists of zone a and zone B. Zone A is the first export processing zone in Shanghai approved by the State Council on April 27, 2000. It is located in Songjiang Industrial Zone, with a planning area of 2.98 square kilometers. At present, it has been basically developed.

There are 51 foreign-funded enterprises with a total investment of US $717 million. In 2002, the export volume reached nearly US $1 billion. In the first half of 2003, the export volume exceeded US $2 billion, ranking first among all export processing zones in China. Electronic information manufacturing industry is the main industry in Zone A, where quanta group of Taiwan has established the largest notebook computer production base in the world. On March 14, 2003, the General Administration of Customs of the people's Republic of China approved the establishment of zone B of Songjiang Export Processing Zone. Zone B is located in Songjiang Science and technology park. Taiwan integrated circuit Co., Ltd. has settled in Songjiang Science and technology park. Zone B, with a planning area of 3 square kilometers, is close to Songjiang new city and Songjiang University City, where Shanghai Hangzhou Expressway and Tongsan Expressway meet. It has superior geographical location and convenient transportation. Zone B will focus on the development of export-oriented enterprises supporting IC enterprises and other export-oriented high-tech enterprises.

Songjiang Export Processing Zone is under closed management. Customs, commodity inspection, taxation, industry and commerce, banking, foreign trade, transportation and customs declaration are all available in the zone. Settled enterprises can complete all import and export procedures in the zone. At present, the clearance logistics time of goods import and export in the zone only takes 4 hours, reaching the level of advanced countries. The overall goal of Songjiang Export Processing Zone is to become an important production base of electronic information industry and a first-class modern industrial park in China and even in the world, and to create a home for investors at home and abroad to develop their business.
