It is 45 kilometers away from Yushu City, covering an area of 151.17 square kilometers.

In 1825, Yumin township was changed from Yumin commune to Yumin Township in March 1983. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Yumin township was 30851. As of June 2020, Yumin township has jurisdiction over 12 administrative villages, and the Township People's government is stationed in Yumin village.

History of construction
