Chaoyang District of Beijing Municipality governs townships (district offices). Located in the south of the District, 8.8 km away from Ritan Park. It covers an area of 23.23 square kilometers and has a permanent population of 146185 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 5 neighborhood committees, 2 communities and 8 administrative villages. Shibalidian township is located in the southeast of Chaoyang District, Beijing, adjacent to CBD in the north and Yizhuang Economic Development Zone in the south. It spans the Third Ring Road, the Fourth Ring Road, the Fifth Ring Road and Jingjintang expressway. It is a typical urban-rural junction.

Historical evolution

The Ming and Qing Dynasties belonged to Daxing County.

It was divided into Nanyuan District in 1949, Chaoyang District in 1958, belonging to Hongguang commune, Shibalidian commune in 1961, laojuntang commune in 1965, and township in 1983.

In 1996, with an area of 25.3 square kilometers and a population of 30000, it has jurisdiction over nine village (neighborhood) committees, namely Shilihe, Zhoujiazhuang, Shibalidian, Xizhihe, lvjiaying, laojuntang, hengjiezi, Xiaowuji and hongshansi.

In December 2002, the 147th mayor's office meeting studied and agreed to set up a regional office in Shibalidian Township, implementing the system of "one set of people, two brands"; the office is located at No. 18, Shibalidian village, with an area of 25.43 square kilometers and a population of 86000, and has jurisdiction over eight administrative villages, namely Shibalidian, lvjiaying, Shilihe, Zhoujiazhuang, Xizhihe, hengjiezi, laojuntang and Xiaowuji.

Development prospects
