Datongyao Township, a township under the jurisdiction of Xinghe County, Wulanchabu City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest of Xinghe County and the north foot of Sumu mountain. It is adjacent to Huaian County in Hebei Province in the East, dianzi town in Xinghe County in the south, Zhanggao town in Xinghe County in the West and Chengguan town in Xinghe County in the north, with a total area of 344 square kilometers. The resident population is 14979.

Evolution of organizational system

Founded in September 2012, the former datongyao Township and Gaomiaozi Township were merged into the new datongyao township.

Climatic characteristics

Datong Yaoxiang belongs to the mid temperate continental monsoon semi-arid climate. Winter and summer are controlled by the Mongolian Plateau and the continental low pressure respectively. The climate is obviously Continental, with the characteristics of cold and heat. The annual precipitation is about 300 mm, the temperature difference between day and night is large, the effective accumulated temperature is 2100-2300 ℃, the sunshine hours is 2874 hours, and the frost free period is about 105 days.
