Machi Town

Machi Town, belonging to Jiuyuan District, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest of Jiuyuan District, adjacent to rare earth high tech Zone in the East, sarula street in the south, halinger town in the West and Kundulun District in the north. The area is 46.5 square kilometers. In 2018, 22967 people registered residence.

After liberation, it was changed into the second suburban commune in Baotou county. From January 1956 to March 2001, it was Machi Township in the suburb of Baotou city. In June 2003, it was changed to Machi Town. In June 2020, Machi Town governs 4 communities and 19 administrative villages.

In 2018, there were 94 industrial enterprises in Machi Town, including 7 industrial enterprises and 14 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

During the period of the Republic of China, it was named Fuyi township.

After liberation, it was changed into the second suburban commune in Baotou county.

From January 1956 to March 2001, it was Machi Township in the suburb of Baotou city.

In June 2003, it was changed to Machi Town.

In 2011, other natural resources in Machi Town are mainly geothermal. The largest geothermal well of hot spring resources in the autonomous region was built in Machi Town on November 5, 2010. The water head of the well is 53 meters above the ground, the wellhead self flow is 2268 tons per day, and the wellhead water temperature is 63 ℃. After pumping test, the water level drops 29.63 meters and the water inflow is 2927.28 tons per day. The water quality of the well is good with pH value of 6.68, containing chlorine, bicarbonate, sodium, iodine and other elements. The hydrochemical type of the well is sodium chloride bicarbonate, which meets the standards of medical and drinking natural mineral water.
