Zhelin town

Rao'ao county is adjacent to the South China Sea and Zhelin town in the East and the sea in the West. Zhelin commune was established in 1965, and the town was built in November 1983, 20 kilometers away from the county seat.

Zhelin town has a land area of 11.98 square kilometers, a sea area of 50 square kilometers, and a coastline of 23.5 kilometers. It has jurisdiction over two community neighborhood committees and four village committees, with a permanent resident population of 12177 (2017).

Zhelin commune was established in 1965 and the town was established in November 1983.

In November 1986, according to the decision of Guangdong provincial Party committee and provincial government, the whole county removed the districts and built towns, and adjusted the zoning. Zhelin town remains unchanged according to the original division.

Zhelin town is located in the south of Raoping County, close to the mountain and the sea, bordering Suocheng town in the East and North, South China Sea in the south, facing Nan'ao County across the sea, and Zhelin Bay in the South China Sea in the west, 20 kilometers away from the county. The total area of the town is 11.98 square kilometers, the sea area is 50 square kilometers, and the coastline is 23.5 kilometers long. The resident population was 12177 (2017).

Zhelin town has two neighborhood committees in Zhezhong and Haiyang, and four village committees in Zhebei, neili, xiadai and Western Australia, including 14 natural villages: Xinjie, Changqiao, Houjing, Haibin and Xiatang in Zhezhong, Haiyang, Zhebei, neili, touxiang, Zhongxiang and Weixiang in xiadai, and Jiuxiang, Xinxiang and Huayuan in western Australia.

Traffic communication

Zhelin town is located in the southeast of Raoping on the east side of the Huanggang River Estuary, with rapid traffic development. In ancient times, it was the largest port in Chaozhou Prefecture. The newly built access road to Chaozhou port is an important link in the transportation network of Raoping County. After the opening of spring tide (Dapu Chaozhou port) Expressway, Zhelin town will become a port hub linking sea and land.

Suozhe highway connects County Road, Bitian railway line and National Highway 324 line, which has convenient water and land transportation. In January 1994, the program-controlled telephone was opened in Zhelin, and in 1996, the mobile phone station was set up, which made the telecommunication spread fast. Zhelin port is located in the east of Guangdong, 94 nautical miles away from Xiamen in the East and 160 nautical miles away from Kaohsiung in Taiwan; 198 nautical miles away from Hong Kong in the West and 8 nautical miles away from Nan'ao in the south. It is an important node of the ancient maritime Silk Road and the first gateway of eastern Guangdong. It has been known as "Zhelin port before Shantou Port" since ancient times.

According to local chronicles, the maritime trade in Zhelin began in the Sui Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty. Due to its superior geographical location, wide water area, stable water flow, Qitou mountain, Matou Mountain and other barriers, Zhelin has become a natural harbor and an ideal place for ships to dock. Therefore, Zhelin has become a distribution center for goods from south to north, and local trade flourished for a time. "The general annals of Guangdong Province" wrote: "Zhelin is the gateway of Nan'ao's sea route, from which all the ships from Fujian have entered Australia." According to Gu Zuyu of the Ming Dynasty's Fangyu summary, Raoping dajianfeng: "Zhelin Ao is to the south of it, and Siam, Japan and the pirates all moored huge boats here." It is also recorded in Chaozhou annals of Commerce: "shipping is booming, like Zhelin They carried local goods to Guangzhou, Fujian and Zhejiang, or as far as Nanyang and Japan, and then sold foreign goods for import. " Unfortunately, in the early Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the implementation of the sea ban, Zhelin port once fell into depression.

Hometown of red head boat

After the lifting of the sea ban in the early Qing Dynasty, Zhelin became a major foreign trade port in eastern Guangdong. In the second year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, Chaozhou Yuntong was reestablished, and the ships going to sea were numbered and marked. This was the red headed ship of Chaozhou. From then on, Zhelin port became more and more prosperous. It was not until the eve of Shantou's opening in 1860 that it was gradually replaced.

Decline and revitalization

In the late Qing Dynasty, Shantou Port rose and Zhelin port declined. After the reform and opening up, Zhelin port was designated as a key fishing port by the state. In 1985, Guangdong Provincial Government approved Sanmen port as a trade port with Taiwan. In 1995, Zhelin port was rebuilt and expanded, with supporting power supply, water supply, transportation, refrigeration and other projects. The port facilities are increasingly perfect. Zhelin town is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with 1889 mu of cultivated land and 7659 mu of forest land. Historically, it was a big fishing town in Raoping and was one of the four salt farms in Raoping. After the reform and opening up, under the impact of market economy, the vast majority of salt fields have been changed into fish ponds, and the salt industry is on the verge of extinction.

Zhelin town is a big fishery production town. The main labor force of Zhelin town is more than 9900 people, including more than 8000 people engaged in fishery production. The town has more than 20000 net cages, covering an area of more than 2300 mu, more than 1500 mu of shellfish culture beach, 1360 mu of shrimp culture area, 21500 cubic meters of abalone culture water. There are 8 seedling farms, with an annual breeding capacity of more than 55 million. There are more than 60 fishing boats, and the town has annual fishery production capacity The total output is more than 15000 tons and the output value is nearly 100 million yuan. Xiaomen breeding base is one of the largest cage breeding bases in Guangdong Province. The main breeding species are grouper, golden pomfret, maroon, bass, red sea bream, etc.

Zhelin town is a "national sea area management demonstration zone", "one of the largest marine cage culture bases in the province", "high-tech anti wave deep-water cage culture demonstration zone in East Guangdong", and has abundant fishery resources. Zhelin fishing port is one of the top ten fishing ports in Guangdong Province, and it is also the designated trade port with Taiwan. Zhelin town is one of the best natural ports in East Guangdong with its superior location and excellent harbor. In recent years, a number of provincial and municipal key projects, including Datang large-scale thermal power plant and Asia Pacific General terminal, have been settled in Zhelin construction, and many businessmen have come to inspect or sign investment intention; Chaozhou port access road connecting National Highway 324 and two-way 6-lane leads directly to Zhelin. Relying on resources, Zhelin industry develops marine characteristic industries, such as shipbuilding, refrigeration, aquatic products processing, food processing, building materials, etc. In 2005, there were 110 industrial enterprises with 1019 employees, and the total industrial output value was 108 million yuan. In 2003, the national development and Reform Commission approved the construction of Guangdong Datang Chaozhou Sanmen power plant in Zhelin Bay. The project officially started on November 21, 2003. The project plans to build supercritical coal-fired generating units with an installed capacity of 2 × 600000kw + 2 × 1000000kw + 4 × 1000000kw. After two years of construction, the first and second units of 2 × 600000 kW were put into operation on May 22 and July 25, 2006. Datang Chaozhou Sanbaimen Power Plant has become a large power enterprise in eastern Guangdong.
