Established on March 27, 2015, it belongs to Liuzhi special zone of Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province. The town is in the east of Liuzhi special zone. It covers an area of 65 square kilometers. With a population of 20000, about 23% of them are Yi, Miao, Buyi and Gelao. It has jurisdiction over 1 neighborhood committee and 15 village committees. In 1949, it was called dunxiao township. After that, it was Xinhua township. In 2015, it was withdrawn from township to town.
