Wanlong township is under the jurisdiction of Shuangcheng District of Harbin city. It is located in the west of the city, reaching Songhua River in the north, adjacent to Zhaoyuan County of Daqing City, bounded by Lalin River in the West and across the river from Songyuan City of Jilin Province. The township government is 54 kilometers away from the urban area. Wanlong Township, named after the resident "Wanlong". The township covers a total area of 192.69 square kilometers, with 93000 mu of arable land and 30494 permanent residents (in 2017), mainly Han nationality. The township government is located in Wanlong village.

Historical evolution
During the period of the Republic of China, it was divided into the fourth district and the Fifth District. In the late period of the Japanese occupation, Northeast China was under the jurisdiction of Guofeng and Guoqing villages. After the victory of the "93" Anti Japanese war in 1945, it was divided into the 11th district in December of the same year, changed into the Wanlong District in December 1948, and then changed into the 11th district. In March 1956, Wanlong, Jinshan, Renhe and other townships were set up. In September 1958, Bandung people's commune was established. In 1968, to commemorate the 13th anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong's "plan for agricultural cooperation in 11 districts" in 1955, it was renamed "11 District commune", and the name of "Wanlong commune" was restored in 1981. In the spring of 1984, it was changed to Wanlong township.
