Jiangyuan town

Jiangyuan town used to be called Xinchang Town (now there are old streets in the town called Xinchang Street). In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, the whole street was destroyed by fire. After reconstruction, in order to avoid fire, it was named "Jiangyuan" after water. It is more suitable for the growth of crops. There are streams but no rivers in the territory, and the water source condition is poor. Jiangyuan reservoir, Hongqi reservoir, Yongning reservoir and Jiangyuan main canal have been built.

On December 23, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved Chengdu to adjust the administrative divisions of 15 counties (cities, districts) including Longquanyi District (cfzm [2019] No. 24): Yongning township was canceled and its administrative area was put under the jurisdiction of Jiangyuan town, whose people's government was stationed at 186 Xinyuan street.
