The township has 9 administrative villages, 9 natural villages, 3500 farmers and 16500 agricultural population.

Xiaochengzi township is under the jurisdiction of Baoqing county. Located in the southwest of the county. The township government is 30 kilometers away from the county seat. The name of Xiaochengzi comes from the name of Xiaochengzi village. Xiaochengzi village is named after the ancient city ruins around the nearby hills. In the early 1930s, this area was mostly inhabited by Korean people. After the fall of the northeast, it was occupied by the Japanese imperialist immigrant development group. After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1945, Japanese immigrants fled. In 1946, it was under the jurisdiction of toudaohezi District, and later under the jurisdiction of the third district. In July 1956, the township was removed from the jurisdiction of Taiping Township. In August 1958, Xiaochengzi people's commune was established. In 1959, Xiaochengzi breeding stock farm was merged with County breeding stock farm. In 1962, the community was separated and the Xiaochengzi commune was restored. In May 1984, it was changed into Xiaochengzi township.

Economics

Xiaochengzi township is located in the semi mountainous area, mostly low mountains and hills. The township covers a total area of 775 square kilometers, including 45000 mu of cultivated land managed by the township. The main crops are wheat, soybean, corn, etc. Township industry has agricultural machinery repair, grain and oil processing plants. The population of Manchu, Korean and other ethnic minorities in the township accounts for about 4% of the total population. The township government is located in Xiaochengzi village.
