Pinghu Street

Pinghu street, belonging to Longgang District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, is located in the north central part of Shenzhen. It is located at the junction of Shenzhen and Dongguan with Longgang and Longhua districts. It is connected with Henggang street in the East, Nanwan and Jihua streets in the south, Longhua District in the West and Fenggang town in Dongguan City in the north, covering an area of 41 square kilometers. As of 2019, Pinghu street has a total population of 520000. As of October 2019, Pinghu street has 12 communities under its jurisdiction.

Pinghu street is the intersection of Guangzhou Shenzhen railway, Pingyan railway and Pingnan railway. Pinghu railway station can reach Luohu in 11 minutes and Guangzhou in 1 hour. There are four expressways and five entrances and exits in the area, which connect with Shenzhen airport, Yantian port and the city center quickly. Metro Line 10 has five stations in Pinghu. Pinghu hub station will be built into a comprehensive transportation hub integrating railway, light rail and subway. Pinghu street is the most concentrated area of Guangfu culture in Longgang District. As one of the residences of Guangfu people, Pinghu has many old enclosures. In Pinghu, wuwuwei, Dawei and songbaiwei are the earliest and most famous ones. Located in Fenghuang community and Pinghu community of Pinghu street, sanzuowei was built in the middle and early Ming Dynasty, five or six hundred years ago.

In 2019, the total industrial output value of Pinghu Street will be 38.876 billion yuan, an increase of 2.1% year on year.

In December 2020, it won the title of model unit of Shenzhen patriotic army.

Historical evolution

In the first year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1522), a Polder was built in Pinghu. Early Pinghu included wuwuwei village, Dawei village and songbaiwei village.

At the end of Ming Dynasty, Baoan county was divided into three townships, seven capitals and 509 villages. Pinghu was the seventh capital.

In 1819, Pinghu was under the jurisdiction of Guanfu.

In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), the district township system was implemented. Pinghu township was located in the Sixth District of Bao'an county,

In 1933, it belonged to the fourth district.

In 1946, it belonged to the second district.

In October 1949, the people's Republic of China was founded, and the natural villages such as egongling, Shanxia and Xinnan, which originally belonged to Dongguan County, were assigned to Pinghu township of Bao'an county. In April of the next year, Bao'an county was reorganized into four districts, and Pinghu township was subordinate to the third district.

In October 1952, the district level system was expanded and Pinghu township was changed into the second district.

In July 1953, Pinghu township was changed into the eighth district.

In the autumn of 1955, the eighth district was renamed Buji District, which belongs to Pinghu township.

In March 1958, Pinghu township was directly under the jurisdiction of Bao'an county. In October of the same year, Pinghu Township and Buji Township merged to form the red flag commune.

In January 1959, the red flag commune was renamed Buji commune.

From July 1961 to March 1977, Pinghu commune was merged into Buji commune for many times.

In July 1983, Pinghu commune was changed into Pinghu district.

In October 1986, Pinghu district was changed into a town.

In January 1993, Baoan county was divided into Baoan District and Longgang District, and Pinghu Town was subordinate to Longgang District.

In 2004, Bao'an District and Longgang District set up streets instead of towns. Pinghu street is still under the jurisdiction of Longgang District.

Pinghu street belongs to hilly landform. The area of hills, terraces and platforms accounts for about 74.6% of the total area. Its terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. Most of the hills are between 60 and 130 meters above sea level. The highest one is niuweiling mountain in shangmugu village, 214 meters above sea level.

The origin of place names

Pinghu street from the perspective of topography, wuwuwei village is like a crab, Dawei village is like a clam, songbaiwei village is like a shrimp. Crabs, mussels and shrimps are aquatic animals. Only water can survive. In addition to the flat terrain in this area, people call it Pinghu.

Guangdong provincial intangible cultural heritage -- Pinghu paper dragon dance

Pinghu paper dragon dance refers to the unique style of paper dragon in Pinghu village with Liu as the main surname. It is said that it is one of the traditional cultural customs inherited by Liu's ancestors who moved from the Central Plains to the South and settled down in Pinghu. The villagers of Pinghu village have the custom of dancing paper dragon during the Spring Festival to pray for good weather. They have their own unique dance skills, musical instruments, music and traditional routines.

Pinghu dragon dance team is composed of more than 60 people. It uses lion drum, cymbal and Gong as percussion music, and suona (drummer) as wind instruments. Accompanied by the music of gongs and drums, the dragon dancers perform such dance forms as "auspicious dragon", "dragon entering Yumen", "golden dragon winding column", "dragon playing in the water", "dragon walking in the garden". At the end of the performance, the paper dragon will be carried to the river for a dragon melting ceremony to cremate it. The ashes will go with the running water, which means that the auspicious dragon will return to the sea.

Fenghuang National Mine Park

Fenghuang National Mine Park is one of the first batch of 28 national mine parks in China.
