Toyoda Township

Fengtian Township, subordinate to Xinning County, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, is located in the northern edge of Xinning County, 84 kilometers away from the county, bordering Wugang City and Shaoyang County, with a total area of 77.87 square kilometers (in 2017), under the jurisdiction of 23 villager groups, with a total population of 21644 (in 2017).

General situation

Toyoda township is a typical hilly area, high in the southwest and undulating in the northeast, forming a number of mountain ridges. The lowest altitude is 330m and the highest is 600m. Underground mineral resources mainly include coal, manganese and limestone, which have mining value. The cultivated area is 22307 mu, including 15887 mu of paddy field and 6420 mu of dry soil. It mainly produces grain, oil, pepper, pine, fir, citrus and flue-cured tobacco. Among them, camellia oil is one of the major specialty products, and the oil quality is pure and bright, and the supply exceeds the demand; citrus and flue-cured tobacco are one of the designated planting bases in the county.

Evolution of organizational system

Before 1956, Toyota was under the jurisdiction of Guangyi Township and Shuanglong township of Wugang County, with half of the area respectively. In February 1956, these places were transferred from Wugang to Xinning to form Fengtian township. In May 1995, it merged with Bitian Township, still known as Toyota township.

Economic overview

After liberation, a relatively complete agricultural infrastructure has been built. In 1996, the top 80 junior middle school graduates in the county were selected and tested, and 12 of them were from Toyota middle school. There are two health centers in the township, with 36 beds, complete laboratory and X-ray machine facilities.
