Yangtan township is located 20 kilometers north of Quwo City, with 17 administrative villages and a population of 21600. It is a mountainous Township in Quwo County. In 1961, Yangtan people's commune was established, which was subordinate to Houma City; in May 1963, it was subordinate to Quwo County; in July 1984, it was changed to Yangtan township.
