Shangma Street

Shangma street, Houma City, Linfen City, Shanxi Province is located in the south of Shanxi Province, the southern suburb of Houma City, at the junction of Linfen basin and Yuncheng Basin.

geographical environment

Shangma Street area is willow shaped, 15 kilometers long from east to west, 4.2 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 63.2 square kilometers, of which 40.2% are plains, 59.8% are mountains and hills, and more than 35000 mu of arable land. The Zijin mountains run across the south, and the water from the river runs through the north.

Historical relics

Many years of archaeology have proved that there are a large number of cultural relics and historic sites in Shangma. It has found 10 ancient cultural sites, 3 ancient tombs, 5 ancient buildings, 12 ancient steles and 3 ancient trees. Four granaries of Neolithic age and one pottery kiln of Xia Dynasty unearthed from the site of qiaoshandi village indicate that human beings have been living here as early as 7000 years ago. A large number of cultural relics, such as bronzes, jades, bone wares and pottery, unearthed from the ancient tombs in Shangma village and the sacrificial pits in Zhangcun village in Southwest China from the Zhou Dynasty to the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period, reflect the long history and splendid culture of Shangma district. It can be said that it is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization.
