Qiaotou town belongs to Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone, located in the southeast of Weihai City, Shandong Province. The location is unique. Qiaotou town is located at the intersection of Wendeng District, Rongcheng City and Huancui District. It is a traffic fortress connecting the inland and coastal areas.

The town government is located in Qiaotou village, which governs 51 administrative villages with a population of 27550 (in 2017), covering an area of 111.24 square kilometers, including 3239 hectares of cultivated land.

On December 2, 2017, Qiaotou town of Weihai Economic and Technological Development Zone in Shandong Province won the title of "China's most beautiful rural leisure tourism town".

Qiaotou township was set up in 1958, which was changed into Mingguang commune in the same year and Qiaotou commune in the same year.
