Lizhai town is located in the southwest edge of the city, at the junction of two cities (Zhoukou, Zhumadian) and three counties. It is adjacent to sanzhangdian Township in the East, Jialing town in the southeast, Pingyu County in the West and south, Shangcai County in the northwest and Sundian town in the north. The town is adjacent to national highway 106, the tributaries of Nihe river run from east to west, shuijiaxi road runs through north to south, and ashen expressway runs through the town, so the traffic is convenient. It has jurisdiction over 27 administrative villages and 73 natural villages, with a population of 70700, an area of 67.5 square kilometers and 59040 mu of cultivated land. The town government is located in Lizhai.
Lizhai, formerly known as hanlizhai, belonged to Yuetan District in June 1948. In June 1951, ten districts (hanlizhai) were added. In July 1961, it was merged into Sundian district. In July 1965, it was renamed hanlizhai people's commune. In December 1983, it was changed into Lizhai township. In November 1996, it was withdrawn from the township to establish a town.
According to the inscriptions of jianzhai, during the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1821-1850), Han Wanyi of houhanzhuang and Li Hong of xiaolizhuang agreed to build the village. The surname Li offered his village as the site of the village, while the surname han paid all the expenses for the construction of the village. After the completion of the village, it was named Han Li village. Lizhai mainly produces wheat and corn, which is more suitable for growing sesame.
According to the idea of "optimizing the layout, adjusting the structure, highlighting the characteristics, and developing on a large scale", Lizhai town has vigorously developed fine agriculture and characteristic agriculture. It has built 9 100 mu agricultural demonstration areas, 12 large-scale cattle farms, 68 large-scale pig farms, 140 sheep farms, 6 specialized breeding villages, and more than 300 specialized households. with the vigorous development of private enterprises, ten leading pillar industries such as textile, plate, leather processing, casting and machinery have been formed.
