Xiaozhai town belongs to Ludian County of Zhaotong City, located in the west of Ludian County. Wenping town in the East, Shuimo town in the west, Longtou mountain in the South and sujiayuan town in Zhaoyang District in the north. The whole terrain is long and narrow, about 15 kilometers long from north to South and 10 kilometers wide from east to west. The highest altitude is 2679 meters, the lowest 1520 meters, with a total area of 97.46 square kilometers. It is also the production base of high-quality tobacco in Zhaotong. Early winter vegetables are famous in Zhaolu. Qiaowei highway and Xiaozhai River divide the land area of the whole Township from northeast to southwest. The terrain is high in Northeast and low in southwest. In the surrounding mountains, a small dam at the bottom of the valley stretches out from the flat concave, with crisscross flat domains and vegetable beds. As early as the end of Ming Dynasty (around 1640), Yi people lived along both sides of Xiaozhai River and built 18 stockades. Because the Xiaozhai river at the bottom of the valley is in a bow shape, and the stockade rises and falls one after another with the bow shaped River, it is called the "Eighteen stockade with curved bow". The smallest stockade at the downstream is called the "Xiaozhai", which gets its name. Although the village is small, it is located along the traffic line. It used to be the only way and important post station for the transportation of zhutiyin from Le Ma factory to the capital. It used to be a place for smelting, primary selection and making silver ingots. Now it is divided into Jincheng site, Renma Yidao Monument and two pieces of silver ingots (existing Ludian County Cultural Center) in Qianlong period. Finally, on the contrary, it is the most famous. Xiaohe is also named xiaozhaihe. After liberation, Xiaozhai was also nicknamed "Houshan" and "Houcun" because it was located in the rear of the county and bounded by the peak of Wenping mountain. During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Chongwen (Wenping town), with four guarantees. After 1950, it belonged to Wenping District, with four townships and four administrative districts. In 1962, it was divided from Wenping district to Xiaozhai district; in 1969, it was changed into Xiaozhai commune; in 1983, it was changed into Xiaozhai district; since 1988, it has been changed into Xiaozhai township.
