Wangmao town is located in the hinterland of Yuanqu County, Shanxi Province. It governs 13 administrative villages, 63 residential groups, 3200 households, 33 natural villages, with a permanent resident population of 10121 people (in 2017). It has a land area of 55 square kilometers, a cultivated land area of 18311 mu, and a per capita income of 2200 yuan by 2008.
