Huayuan Township, belonging to Yizhou District of Hami City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the middle of Hami City. It is adjacent to taojiagong township of Hongxing Yichang, 13th agricultural division in the East, Nanhu Township in the south, erbu town in the West and Huicheng Township in the north. The area is 331.2 square kilometers. In 2018, 11047 people registered residence.

The Qing Dynasty belongs to the hereditary territory of the Hui king. In 1950, for Huicheng District (District 2) three township. In 1958, it belonged to rocket commune. In 1962, the garden commune was established. In 1984, Huayuan township was established. As of October 2019, huayuanxiang governs eight administrative villages.

In 2018, there were 10 industrial enterprises in Huayuan Township and 56 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
