On January 19, 2021, the people's Government of Jiangxi Province gave an official reply to the removal of Longhua Township in Nankang District of Ganzhou City, Yeping Township in Ruijin City, and Yongfeng Township in Xingguo County: Longhua township was abolished and Longhua town was established. The administrative area of Longhua town was the original administrative area of Longhua township. The people's Government of Longhua town was stationed at No. 49, xiyinqiao Road, Longhua residents committee (the current resident of Longhua Township People's Government).

Longhua town is located in Nankang District of Ganzhou City. The former Longhua township was established from township to town. Longhua town is located in the Midwest of Nankang District, 23 kilometers away from the main urban area of Ganzhou City and 25 kilometers away from the urban area of Nankang district. It is a half-hour economic circle of Ganzhou City and Nankang district. Longhua township is adjacent to Tangjiang town in the East, Zhufang Township in the south, Shangyou County in the West and shibatang Township in the north. National Highway 357 (Ganfeng line) and Xiarong Expressway cross the border. The double track of Daguang Expressway under construction runs across the border. The government is only 3.2km away from Tangjiang exit of Daguang Expressway and 16km away from Ganzhou golden airport and Ganzhou High Speed Railway west station. The transportation is convenient and the geographical advantages are obvious. The township has a total area of 107 square kilometers, and has 17 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committees, 236 villagers' groups. At the end of 2019, there were 52843 registered residence population.
