The office, located at 330 Dongxin Road, has 25 neighborhood committees, with a total of more than 20000 households and more than 64000 people, with a population density of more than 33000 people per square kilometer. In the past, Wusong River was in the southeast, and its tributaries shahongbang, Qiujiang River and liyuanbang in the northwest formed a water network. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were many villages along the river, and the villagers mainly planted cotton grain. Around the 1920s, the Shanghai Hangzhou Railway passed through the whole territory. Along the Wusong River, cotton spinning, oil pressing and other factories were built. Workers came to settle in the territory. Most of the houses were simple houses and grass sheds, forming a shanty town centered on dongxincun. In the early 1930s, Zhongshan Road (now Zhongshan North Road) was built. After that, some new residential areas appeared on both sides of the road, mainly simple houses. From 1983 to 1988, the street was rated as Shanghai sanitary street for five times in a row. Wuning Road (from Wuning Road bridge to Zhongshan North Road, across shahongbang Street) was named "city appearance, traffic and health" civilized street by the Municipal People's Government in 1985. Dongxin road was also named Wenming street in 1990. On March 3, 1993, Dongxin village sub district office was renamed Dongxin road sub district office.
