Shangatushi Town, subordinate to Atushi city in Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the southwest of Atushi City, bordering AHU Township and azak Township in the East, Shufu County in Kashi Prefecture in the South and Wuqia County in the northwest, with an administrative area of 781.91 square kilometers.
By the end of 2018, the population of registered residence in the town of upper city was 54066. As of October 2019, the town has 20 administrative villages.
In 2011, the total revenue of the town was 1.14 million yuan. The local fiscal revenue was 252000 yuan. Financial expenditure was 5.76 million yuan. In 2018, there were 12 industrial enterprises in upper Atushi town.
History of construction
In the late Qing Dynasty, upper Atushi was a small Atushi village in Shufu county.
In 1943, after the establishment of Atushi County, it belonged to Atushi county.
In 1950, it was the Fifth District of Atushi County, under the jurisdiction of three administrative districts, one directly subordinate team and eight townships.
In September 1958, Xinlu commune was rebuilt.
In 1962, the administrative area was abolished and divided into two communes, namely, kayak commune and yikesak commune. Among them, 13 production brigades and one pasture are under the jurisdiction of the Karak commune, and 7 production brigades are under the jurisdiction of the yikesake commune.
In June 1965, the two communes of khairak and yikesak were merged into the upper Atush commune, with 13 production brigades under its jurisdiction.
In October 1984, the commune was withdrawn and the township was built.
In October 2011, the township was removed to build a town.
