Its total area is 260.6 square kilometers.

History of construction
In 1970, Nanshan Mining Area in Urumqi was established.
In 1976, Aiweiergou sub district office of Nanshan Mining Area was established, under which there were three community residents committees.
In 1999, Nanshan Mining Area was renamed Nanquan district.
In March 2002, Nanquan district government moved from Yuergou to Daban Town, and the street was renamed Aiweiergou sub district office of Dabancheng district.
