Lijun township is located in the southwest of Haiyuan County, at the junction of Xiji County, Haiyuan county and Yuanzhou District of Guyuan City. It is 74 kilometers from the northwest to the county seat. With a total area of 212.05 square kilometers, it is rich in gypsum mineral resources. Historical evolution
It was named after Li Junbao in Ming Dynasty. In the Republic of China, Li Jun Township Office was set up. In 1944, Lijun township of Guyuan County was assigned to Haiyuan county. In August 1949, Li Jun district was established, with jurisdiction over 9 townships, including Li Jun, Wafang, Jiucai, Yang Ming, mu mu, Jiang (Jiang) Zhuang, Hongyang, Shitang and Guanzhuang. In October 1952, it was changed into the Sixth District, with jurisdiction over eight townships of Li Jun, Wafang, Jiucai, Gucheng, Yangming, Chenliang, Zhangquan and Machang; in July 1956, it was changed into seven townships of Li Jun, Wafang, Jiucai, mu mu, Yangming, Xinzhuang and xiejiang; in August of the same year, it was changed into three townships of Li Jun, Jiucai and Yangming; in January 1958, it was changed into six townships of Li Jun, Jiucai, Yangming, Hongyang, Shitang and Guanzhuang; in October 1958, it was abolished In May 1959, Jiucai commune was incorporated into Li Jun. from December 1962 to June 1969, Lijun district was re established, with four communes under its jurisdiction: Lijun, Yangming, Hongyang and Guanzhuang. In May 1981, Jiucai was designated as a new commune, and in January 1984, Lijun commune was changed into a township.

The Panhe Xiji highway and Zhongjing highway run through the rural area, and the whole township has basically realized the power supply and access to natural villages. There is Jiuyang village site of Song Dynasty in wafanggou. On the stone hill in the west of niujiabaozi village, there are jinfogou Grottoes excavated in the Northern Wei Dynasty, which attract experts and tourists to visit. Li Junxiang has a party committee with 10 party branches, all of which have completed the establishment of "five good party branches". There are 339 party members in the township, including 43 female party members, 122 with high school education or above and 29 with college education or above. Since 2010, Li Junxiang has firmly grasped the mass work as the foundation, continuously strengthened and innovated social management, focused on publicity and education, conflict resolution, government credibility, and democratic management, promoted the construction of folk customs, and laid a solid foundation for the social stability and economic development of the whole township. In 2012, three villages were identified as the demonstration villages of folk customs construction by the county.
