Wutong Tree Township is located in the northwest of Lingwu City. The township government is 15 kilometers away from the urban area and 158 square kilometers in the whole territory. It has jurisdiction over 8 administrative villages with a total population of 25531, including 6621 Hui people, accounting for 26% of the total population. The cultivated land area of the township is 52125 mu. In 2003, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the township reached 191.11 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers reached 3001 yuan.

In May 26, 2020, Wutong Tree Township was selected as the list of agricultural industry strong towns in 2020.
