Zhanglaosi farm, a state-owned farm in Gansu Province, is located in Jingchuan County, Pingliang City, which is under developed economy.

brief introduction

Zhanglaosi farm was founded on May 1, 1958, so it was called "May 1 Farm" at first, changed to "Hongwei farm" in the cultural revolution, and then restored to its original name, zhanglaosi farm. The farm is located at the intersection of Jingchuan, Lingtai and Chongxin counties. The landform is gully and remnant area, 7.5km long from east to west and 6km wide from south to north.

Geography

The farm is located at the intersection of residual tableland, ridge, hill and gully on the Loess Plateau. It is 7.50km long from east to west and 6km wide from north to south, 19km away from Jingchuan county. There are broken tableland (zhanglaosi tableland) with an area of 1.6902 million m2 and an altitude of 1460 M. the tableland surface is relatively flat and the slope is less than the elevation. There are four large ridge like hills with an area of 1620800 m2, running in a north-south direction, ranging from 3 to 5 km in length, and less than 1 km in width. The top of the beam is relatively flat, with a slope of less than 10 degrees, and the slope of the beam is relatively large, mostly 10-40 degrees. After 10 years of continuous soil improvement, most of the slopes have been built into horizontal terraces, which are generally less than 10 degrees. Due to the impact of the flood, dendritic gullies with a depth of 50-200m and a width of 1000m are formed, mostly in a north-south direction, with an altitude of 1120-1250m.

The farm is located in the warm temperate semi-arid climate zone, with obvious continental climate. Due to the influence of monsoon, it has four distinct seasons, long winter and short summer, the same spring and autumn, high temperature and storm in summer, continuous rain in autumn, cold and long winter, drought and windy in spring. The annual average temperature is 10 degrees, frost free period is 180d, annual sunshine hours is 2316.82h, and annual rainfall is 549.90mm. The forest coverage rate is 30%, and the vegetation coverage rate is 69%. The climate is suitable for the development of agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry.

Economics

After 50 years of efforts of two generations of land reclamation, the farm has developed into an agricultural enterprise with a certain scale integrating agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry. It is a high-quality apple production base and cattle and sheep and other animal products production base both inside and outside the province. Rich in high-quality apple, cashmere meat and sheep, cattle, grain and animal products, wood and fruit products. With an annual output of 5000t "Xiwangmu" apple, more than 6000 mutton sheep, more than 3000 live lambs, more than 1000 cattle, more than 2000 kg plush and more than 5 million kg grain. With the implementation of the western development and the construction of a well-off society, the farm has made great efforts to adjust its industrial structure, relying on the resources of agricultural, forestry and livestock products, accelerated its development, and initially formed three key products of high-quality apple, cattle, sheep, plush and so on.

Current situation of aquaculture development

By the end of 2008, there were 11000 sheep in the farm, of which 8200 were raised on family farms and 79 farmers, accounting for 11% of the total number of households. Among the 79 farmers in the farm, 31 farmers raised more than 100, accounting for 39.20% of the farmers. The largest number of breeding is 430. The main feeding mode was natural grazing. According to the survey, raising 100 goats can achieve an annual net income of 20000 yuan. In terms of income, 70% of the family income of 79 farmers mainly comes from sheep industry, and goat breeding has become the main industry of family farm income in our farm. In the aspect of cattle raising, although the farm vigorously publicized and actively mobilized, the enthusiasm of the staff was not high, and the cattle stock of the whole farm showed a downward trend.
