Litai Street

Litai street, belonging to Yangling District, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the southeast of Yangling District. It is adjacent to Dazhuang town of Wugong County in the East, to Yabai town of Zhouzhi County of Xi'an city across the Weihe River in the south, to Rougu town in the west, and to Yangling street by Longhai Railway in the north. The maximum distance between East and West is 7 km, and the maximum distance between North and south is 4 km, with a total area of 21.8 square kilometers.

There are ancient Tai ruins, kanjiadi ruins, tangwangdong ruins, chuanyunguanchenglou, hujiadi ruins, dujiapo ruins and so on in Litai street.

As of June 2020, Litai street has jurisdiction over 13 communities and 1 administrative village. Historical evolution

It got its name from Litai village.

Ming belongs to YONGANLI, Wugong County.

Qing Dynasty along the Ming system, Yongzheng seven years (1729), is Yongan Town.

In 1939, it belonged to Yangling township of Wugong County.

In 1949, it belonged to the second district.

In March 1956, Li Tai township was established.

In October 1958, it was changed into a commune, and in November it became the Litai management area of Yangling commune, with 16 production teams under its jurisdiction.

In March 1984, Litai township was restored.

In July 2011, it was changed into a street, and the community south of Yangling street and Longhai railway was divided into Litai street.

History and culture

The ruins of ancient Tai state

The ancient Taiguo site is located on the secondary platform on the North Bank of the Weihe River, south of gedamiao village and Faxi village, Rougu Town, Litai street, Yangling District, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province. There is a large residential site with rich connotation in different cultural periods, such as the Neolithic period, the western Zhou Dynasty, the Warring States period, the Qin and Han Dynasties. It is said that Houji, the ancestor of Chinese agriculture, was the place where people were taught to farm.

The site of ancient Tai state is about 1.5 km from east to west and 1 km from north to south. It belongs to the second terrace on the North Bank of Weihe River. Large scale and multi-level ancient relics are found on the platform cliffs. In the middle and lower layers of undisturbed limestone, red and black fine clay pottery, sand mixed pottery, as well as additional heap pattern and rope pattern pottery were found. The upper layer has the Qin and Han Dynasty cloud pattern tile and tile. In addition to the ash layer, there are also many ash pits, kiln sites, residential sites with a length of about 15 meters and pits with a height of 4 meters and a width of 2 meters. In the west of dujiapo and the southwest of getamiao village, two rammed earth layers with a length of 8 meters and 28 meters were found. In the Northwest Forestry College to the north of dujiapo, there is an ancient tomb group. Unearthed in the site are different sizes of ground stone axes, pottery bowls, pottery kettles, pottery pots, pottery figurines, pottery spinning wheels, bone hoes, thin copper mirrors and bronze daggers. On eight pottery pots and urns from the Warring States period to the Western Han Dynasty, two words "chi (TAI) Shi" and "chi (TAI) ting" were found.

The East-West distribution of the site is relatively flat, showing a gentle slope from north to south. A large number of ash pits were found on the Bank of the trench in the southwest of the site and on the surface of cultivated land in the southeast of the site. The ash pits are 2-5 meters deep and 1.25-6 meters wide. Most of them are bag shaped and cone-shaped, followed by irregular ones. From the stratigraphic point of view, below 20-50 cm of the surface is a 1.8-3 m thick cultural layer.

On May 3, 2013, the ancient Tai state site was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
